April 29, 2025

It’s been 12 days since I last posted an update. During that time, Trevor completed the fireplace installation.

Progress on the cancer treatment is not as fast as Trevor’s. On April 23, I met with Dr. Ramineni, thinking I would have Chemo that day. I didn’t. Dr. Ramineni is one of those doctors who does not look over your chart or notes before he comes into the room. He brings in his laptop, opens it up, and starts reading about you while you sit quietly and wait until he is done reading. He read the letter from Dr. Geller:

He also read the liver pathology report:

It goes on and on about various terms that require a PhD. to understand.

I think it was when he got to the part that said: “…initiation of systemic therapy with gem+cis+durva vs. gem+pembro for treatment…” when he said: “Well, I don’t tell Dr. Geller how to do his surgery, he should not tell me how to do my job.”

He asked if I had seen the lung surgeon in Pittsburgh he referred me to. I replied that they had not called me to schedule an appointment.

He said he would have them call and he wanted to look at the data to determine what chemo drugs I should take. That everything is reset now that the liver surgery is done. He said give me a day.

I pointed out that Dr. Geller wanted me to start a chemo pill to reduce the odds of cholangiocarcinoma reoccurring. He said he would order that.

I asked if we should get a new scan before treatment started, He said he would order that.

Six days later I have heard nothing from Dr. Ramineni. I did hear from a pharmacy in Pittsburgh that ordered Xeloda or Capecitabine. I also got scheduled to get educated on it which will happen tomorrow, April 30.

I also got scheduled for a new PET scan on May 8th. I also saw in my UPMC portal that Dr. Geller’s office scheduled me for a scan and labs on August 18th followed by an appointment to see Geller after he read the results.

Today, I got a call from Dr. Ryan Levy’s office to schedule that appointment on May 14 at the UPMC Cancer Center in Passavant Hospital, Pittsburgh.

I’m not looking forward to Chemo treatment. Just reading the side effects of the pill capecitabine is scary enough.

That is all for now. I have to ask Dr Ramineni about taking capecitabine while on Losartan and while having coronary heart disease. When the pharmacy called to go over it with me the pharmacist went over the medication I was on and I did tell him I was on Losartan, but he didn’t say anything. It’s my life and I think I would like somebody better than me advise me about taking these drugs together.
