4 am thoughts

Clock showing early morning time

It happens more often than we realize. It’s 4 am and our subconscious pokes our conscious and says: “Wake up! I got the answer!

You went to bed thinking of some problem. While you, or your conscious self slept, your subconscious worked to solve the problem. More often than not, it comes up with a solution. Many times, it is a good solution. Some times it is not. Frequently, the conscious never wakes up enough to get the answer. But, some times it does. Sometimes it gets the answer and before our second cup if coffee, we forget it.

Its like a fleeting moment. A good feeling. A peacefulness.

“Ah!” You think, “I finally know the answer to x2 +y2 = z2.” or a better way to catch mice. Your mind goes to put it into words.  Then, it’s gone.  Nothing. You forgot it.

Experts say that if you have a pencil and paper next to your bed, and jot down whatever it is that your subconscious is trying to tell you, that you might make sense of it later when you fully wake up.

So after your second cup of coffee, you go fetch your writing tablet from your bedside and read: “It is a big one!”. And it makes no sense whatever to you. You either forgot the problem, or you had a sexual dream.

In any case, it might be fun to capture some of these subconscious revelations.

I will start with one from this morning:

“All of us live a life that is on a pathway to death.”

That is what thinking about  “Ethical Wills” will come up with.
